As previously mentioned, the “Talon!” Show 2012 will begin at 7 p.m. in the Student Center (probably in Ballroom B) at Dickinson State University on Wednesday, May 2nd. If you are interested in performing, please contact Dr. Eric Grabowsky at (701) 483-2549 or at Eric.Grabowsky@dickinsonstate.edu. By now, you might have seen the posters on the walls at various locations on campus. We are being a bit flexible on the notion of an entry deadline because of the newness of this event. However, please get your entry in sooner rather than later! Please remember that performances must be focused upon the following question: What’s Your D?
To raise awareness about the “Talon!” Show 2012, we will be hosting an ice cream social (Friday, April 27th—that is today) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the Snack Bar area in the DSU Student Center. The ice cream will be free! We will be taking entries on paper for the “Talon!” Show 2012 during that time. This would be a great time to put your name in the mix of performances! The ice cream is available for all members of the campus and local communities, not just students. Of course, we hope to see a lot of students between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Speaking of entries for the show, there will be Walmart Gift Cards as prizes for the top three places as follows: $200 (First Place), $100 (2nd Place), and $50 (3rd Place). We are sure that this will provide another significant incentive for our DSU students to consider entering this formidable competition. Students should be saying “I DEFINITELY want to get my name in the mix now” after hearing of these valuable prizes.

As part of the “Mark Your Mark” campaign and in conjunction with the DSU Campus Actitivites Board, we will be hosting a “Talon!” show to be focused upon the following question: What’s Your D? As we are learning, the “D” is our new logo! So, if you wish to competitively feature your talent, you must connect your performance in some way to this question. We are open to all sorts of performances, such as music, dancing, poetry readings, short dramatic skits, speeches, and storytelling. Based upon student feedback, this might become an annual event! So, how might you let us know the ways by which the letter “D” can express your loyalty and gratitude to Dickinson State University?
